Mythology Island Now Available!

Greetings Poptropicans!

Mythology Island is now available and it's available for all players! That's right, this island release is not member-only, everyone can play it today!

This is the first remastered Poptropica island. Wondering what a remastered Poptropica island is?

We collected feedback from players and looked closely at the island data to see what players loved and didn't love about the original Mythology Island that came out in 2010. The Pop Creators then revised some of the gameplay and scripts to make it more fun!

Can you spot the differences between the original and the remastered island? Share what you discover in the comments below!

Coming Soon: Updated Friends Feature!

We asked players a little while ago how you'd like to see the friends feature improved and the overwhelming vote was to get the ability to find and add your friends.

You're smarter than us. How did we not include this? This is why your feedback matters!

We're working on upgrading a lot of features in Poptropica based on your feedback (and yes, we're still converting islands) but we knew this one is important.

So this is a little sneak peek at what's to come for you and your friends.

Behind the Scenes: The Making of the Zomberry Special Event

Ever wonder how games like Poptropica are made?

There's a lot that goes into the game development process. There's an art team that comes up with the concept, creates storyboards, and all the art and animations you see in the game. Then there's a development team that codes the game bringing the whole experience to life. And there are game testers (yes, that's a real job!) who make sure that everything works as expected.

Here's some of the stuff from Zomberry to give you a better idea of the creative process behind making a special event in Poptropica.

Things start with concepts and storyboards. These are generally pretty rough sketches, just like you see for movies!

The artists then move into a more formal layout and sketch. Here's where the layout and art style will start to more closely match what will go into the game.

And then the final art!

The art and paths for gameplay in the game are a lot of work too and follow the same process. Not only does the concept have to turn into final art, but the artists also help the developers understand how players should move through the game and how certain elements will work.

Once the art is done things move into the animation and coding process! Coding requires a lot of attention to detail. All the file names have to match exactly and a wrong ";" somewhere can make things go a little bananas.

And let's not forget the sound! The zombie sounds for Zomberry were recorded in one of the Pop Creators rooms with blankets to help dampen any exterior sound and reverberation!

That's a wrap!

Ethan Gamer + Poptropica

This week's Poptropica video feature is from back in the archives. May 2016 to be exact!

We loved watching the first time Ethan Gamer played Poptropica. His joy over the Hot Dog costume, in the end, is as pure as it gets! We'll admit, it's a favorite among the Pop Creators too!

Do you remember your first time playing Poptropica? What did you love about it?! Let us know in the comments below!

Poptropica Walkthrough: Zomberry Special Event

Life as a zombie hunter isn't always easy. Zombies lurk in the shadows. They pop-out of trashcans and windows. And worst of all, they sit on top of cars. Who do they think they are!?

Are you wondering how to beat the Zomberry Special Event?

If all of that fear fainting has worn you out we made you a quick walkthrough tutorial video on how to slime every last zombie in the Zomberry Special Event.

Let's just say, even the Poptropica creators have a hard time beating this one. The zombie hanging from the lampost!? Nope.

If you've made a Zomberry video let us know so we can share it with the community!
